USPS instructs shippers to round each dimension up to a whole inch. When the resulting volume exceeds 1,728 cubic inches, divide by 139 and round up to the next whole pound.
A second volume threshold
The current Priority Mail standard also describes a nonstandard cubic fee above 3,456 cubic inches. A parcel can therefore need both dimensional-weight and nonstandard-fee checks.
